2) Brainstorm synonyms for "good" and "bad" for an activity tomorrow (I would like at least 5 words for each, and you are encouraged to use a thesaurus or other resources to look up words.)
** Mrs. Belkind handed out a "4 Fours" Math Challenge Sheet. It is OPTIONAL, but a great way to push your thinking!

Homework for Friday, September 14th

2) Mrs. Belkind came to our room today to discuss Math Olympiad. Each student got a worksheet with sample problems. The assignment is for student and parent to try and solve ONE problem together and then discuss whether Math Olympiad is something you would like to do this year.

** Today, each student received a copy of the book, The BFG by Roald Dahl, as part of this year's One Book, One School initiative. A flyer was also sent home with more information. We will be reading the book in class, with the goal of finishing by October 5th.

Ice Cream Day and After-School Programs

* Wednesday, September 12th is the first ice cream day. Please place your order by Monday, September 10th at 11 PM Central Time through the Indian Trail PTO website.  Cash will not be accepted at school. 

*Wednesday, September 12th is also the first session for after-school programs. Flyers were sent home today informing the students who signed up of their club(s) and schedule.

Open House Presentation

No Homework for Thursday, September 6th (OPEN HOUSE)

Students did another great job of staying focused and testing during some warm temperatures. Hopefully it cools down soon!

Tonight is Open House. Due to the number of families expected to attend, there will be two sessions in order to make sure there is parking and not too crazy inside the building. The sessions are divided by last name:

A-L 6:00 - 7:00pm
6:00 - 6:15 Big Gym - Principal's Presentation
6:17 - 6:38 Classroom Session 1
6:40 - 7:00 Classroom Session 2

M-Z 7:15 - 8:15pm
7:15 - 7:30pm Big Gym- Principal's Presentation
7:32 - 7:52pm Class Session 1
7:54 - 8:15pm Class Session 2

  • If you can't make your "assigned" time, I understand and you are welcome at a time that work for you. 
  • If you can not attend tonight, the presentation will be posted on my blog. I'm hoping the weather cooperates but it's not looking very pretty right now.

The students did a great job testing on a very warm day! Hopefully it's a bit cooler tomorrow for our Reading MAP test and for Open House.

Please make sure students charge their Chromebooks, get a good night of sleep, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

Information on MAP Testing and Open House

UPDATED MAP TESTING SCHEDULE:
Tuesday, September 4th PM - Math MAP Testing
Wednesday, September 5th PM - Reading MAP Testing

OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION:
Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 5th. We anticipate a large crowd of families and therefore will run two sessions to anticipate parent parking and movement around the building. The sessions are divided by last name:
