Footage of the Waterspout

Star Journalist/5th Grade Teacher/Recess Supervisor Mr. Rosenfeldt captured the waterspout that suddenly appeared at recess today. I'm very proud of how well all of 4B responded, quickly getting inside and into a safe position, staying calm, and comforting others who were nervous. This is a very kind group of students!

Homework for Friday, August 25th

  1. Show your parents/guardians your home folder
  2. Give your parents/guardians the Enrichment Sign Up Sheet and the Musical Performances Sheet
    1. Enrichment Sign Up Sheets are due next Friday, September 1st
  3. Remember to bring your Chromebook tomorrow as we will be updating, cleaning, organizing, and bookmarking!

Update: Specials start tomorrow!

I'm sorry for the incorrect information in the letter, but we start our specials TOMORROW, not next Monday. Please make sure to wear or bring gym shoes!

What a great first day!

I can tell it's going to be a great year! Today I sent home a short welcome letter, as well as a letter regarding allergies in the room. We weren't able to get to our supplies today, so the two sheets of paper are just inside the backpack. Tomorrow we will get all of our supplies out and organized, including the Home Folder.

I have included the information from the welcome letter below.
  • If you ordered supplies and they were not delivered to the classroom, please send a note letting me know. Every year a few bags get placed in the wrong room, and I’m sure it will be resolved quickly. I have a plethora of supplies, so all students will have everything they need in the class.
  • A HOME FOLDER will be used to deliver documents and notes to and from school daily. This will be used for homework, flyers from school ,and communication from home. This take-home folder should be emptied on a regular basis. Please help your child get in the routine of unpacking and re-packing this folder every night.
  • Your student will need a pair of DEDICATED school headphones/earbuds. These should be small and cheap.
  • Gym shoes need to be worn everyday for P.E. class, in order to participate. If you would like to send a pair of gym shoes to be kept at school, please make sure that your child’s first and last name is labeled on each shoe.
  • Please send ONLY healthy snacks (fruit, fresh veggies, yogurt), in order to adhere to our district’s food policy. Please visit the district website for more information. You will find the policy in the posted parent handbook.
  • Recess/Lunch is every day from 11:50-12:40. Students need to be prepared to dress for a variety of temperatures and weather conditions. Also, please inform your child if he/she will be receiving hot lunch at school.
  • Fall Enrichment begins on September 11th. Sign up sheets will sent home by Monday, possibly by this Friday.
