Homework for Friday, May 19th

* School Supply Order forms for 2017-18 were distributed today. I will be sending students home with any extra folders and/or notebooks that we haven't used this year over the course of the next few weeks. I've found that if I wait until the last day, students end up dumping perfectly good, unused materials that could be used the following year.

* Food Drive ends tomorrow! We need canned fruit and fruit cups!

Homework:
1) Read for 30 minutes
2) Complete all spelling work and study for the quiz
3) For your creative writing project, determine your story's beginning, middle, and end. (This might be easier if you think about how your main character starts off, what happens to him/her, and he/she has changed by the end of the story)

EXAMPLE: Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson
  1. Beginning - Shirley Temple Wong lives in China.
  2. Middle - She moves to America, and must adapt to fit into the new culture.
  3. End - Shirley is happy to be in America, but still values her Chinese heritage and culture.
EXAMPLE: Bud, Not Buddy
  1. Beginning - Bud lives in orphanage, bouncing between foster homes.
  2. Middle - Bud tries to find his real father.
  3. End - Bud doesn't find his father, but finds a loving family.
(Obviously, there are many other details in these novels, but these are the moments that provide the foundation for the stories. Also, nothing is set in stone, so if you want to change something later, that is perfectly fine. However, it's best to have something down to work off of.)

Tomorrow is Mismatch Day.
