1) Read for 30 minutes
2) Complete first draft of Book Review
3) Complete Tuesday Spelling work
4) Submit poems for HP Poetry Contest (Optional)
  • Send pieces(s) in an e-mail, or attach a .doc or .pdf file to Jennifer@highlandparkpoetry.org 
  • Please put “2017 Poetry Challenge” in the subject line of your e-mail.
  • Poems should be original pieces of work and 30 lines or fewer.
  • There is no reading fee to submit one (1) poem. To submit additional poems, there is a reading fee of $4 per poem. Check or money order payable to Highland Park Poetry.

3) The HP poetry contest deadline is next week! Start thinking about your poem. (You do not need to submit to the contest, but you do need to write one for class). The topics are:

  2. The Secret Life of Insects & Spiders
  3. Epistolary or Letter Poems

The 2017 February Youth Art Month
North Shore School District 112 Exhibit

Please visit our amazing “District 112 Student Art Show” at The Art Center of Highland Park, located at 1957 Sheridan Road in Highland Park, IL. The exhibit will be on display from February 17th through February 27th. Families are welcome to attend an informal open house next Thursday, February 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with our district's art teachers and administrators.

Some students have asked about the video segments we have watched in class. They have been pulled from  "America: Story of Us" (From The History Channel) and "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" (from FOX/National Geographic Channel). I believe both are on Netflix.

And a HUGE THANK YOU to our PTO and parents for our new markers! The class loves them!
