Homework for Wednesday, June 1st

1) Read
2) Work on Post It Project (Math) if you did not complete it in school
3) Rory Deutsch Good Citizenship Essay due (The suggested length is 2-4 paragraphs about what it means to be a good citizen. I suggest using the same format we have used all year for opinion papers and tourist reports - An engaging introductory paragraph listing three ways to be a good citizen, 1 to 3 paragraphs explaining why each way to be a good citizen is important, and a final paragraph summarizing your paper. It would also be wise to look at the Rory Deutsch Foundation page for ideas and inspiration.)

ELA MAP Testing tomorrow at 9am

We are testing at 9am tomorrow, so please make sure all Chromebooks are charged and that you arrive to school on time.

We will be sharing our Oregon Trail journals as well. As a reminder, I am only concerned about the writing. Some students wanted to make their journals look old and authentic, which is great, but not a requirement.

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

Homework for Wednesday, May 11th

1) Read
2) Work on your Oregon Trail Journal (Final Draft due Thursday)

Many students did not complete MAP testing today, so they will continue tomorrow. I was very pleased to see so many students taking their time!

MATH MAP Testing tomorrow

Tomorrow afternoon is Math MAP testing, so there will be no homework tonight (BESIDES CHARGING YOUR CHROMEBOOK!). However, I would encourage students practice math on one of our many websites and read to get their minds sharp. Additionally, Oregon Trail Journals are due on Thursday.

The ELA MAP test will be Thursday morning. Please let me know if you miss either session so that I can schedule a makeup test asap.

Finally, this week's A-Z countdown schedule:
Tues 5/10 - Extra Recess Day
Wed 5/11 - Formal Day
Thu 5/12 - Green Day
Fri 5/13 - Hat Day

Friday, May 6, 2016

Homework for Monday May 9th

1) Read
2) Final Oregon Trail Journals will be presented next Thursday. Students had over an hour of work time today to share their rough draft, plan their final draft, and ask any questions. While some students are very eager to make their journal look authentic and old, it is not required. I am most concerned with the content of the journal, not the appearance.

Bingo Night is tonight! Unfortunately I can not make it, but it should be a fantastic time!

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Homework for Friday May 6th

1) Complete rough draft of journal entries for your Oregon Trail journal. You will still have time to add detail and make edits, but you should have a solid idea of the dates of your entries and the information within the entries.
2) Study for spelling quiz and complete all spelling work for the week.

No Homework for Tuesday, May 3rd

Tomorrow is our final day of PARCC testing. All makeups will likely be completed this week as well.

Today we had a fantastic assembly about American Tall Tales, presented by Spotlight Youth Theater.

Finally, Wednesday starts our ABC countdown for the end of school year! Below is the list of themes for each day. Participation is OPTIONAL and will not be allowed to disrupt the school day. Summer may be near, but there is still plenty to learn!
