Awesome Presentation and Homework for Monday Sept 19

Today we were so fortunate to have one of the developers of the New World Trade Center come to our school and share his experience working on the project. The students asked great questions and got pins and a model of the tower to build on their own.

For homework:
1) I would like students to choose one of the two options: Either write a thank you letter to Mr. Kupperman for coming to Indian Trail and sharing his knowledge. In the letter, students should mention some of the facts he mentioned during his presentation -- OR -- students may write a reflection comparing the presentation to the book we read on the construction of the Statue of Liberty. How were these two amazing architectural feats alike? Why were they similar?

2) Complete ALEKS homework to review for Monday's check-in quiz on standard, expanded, and word form of numbers.

3) Read and log!!

Help Indian Trail celebrate in Dot Day - September 15th

This year Dot Day falls on Monday September 15th. Dot Day is a celebration created by Peter Reynolds, author of The Dot, to encourage students find their strengths and use their own creativity to make their own mark. To help your student make their mark on September 15th encourage them to wear any kind of polka dot, spotted, or any kind of representational dot on their clothing that day.

Homework for 9/10/14

** Read and log. I expect everyone to do this properly now that we discussed it AGAIN today in class. 5 days a week, 30 minutes a reading session, and a log entry of at least 3 sentences summarizing what you read or your reaction to what you read.

** Write the next chapter of Sideways Stories from Wayside School! You should write Chapter 31 from the viewpoint of a new student, teacher, or principal, set at Wayside School. This year, I will be using Class Dojo to monitor and reward student behavior. Students will be bringing home a sheet with your personalized code so that you can log in and see how your student is behaving in class on a day to day basis. I will be presenting on how to use ClassDojo (and other web based programs) during Open House, but wanted to give parents a heads up about the program in case any parent wanted to check it out before then.

Please email me ( with any questions you may have.
